The Story Behind Ms Coral Way Resting

This fine art reproduction serves as an official satirical fine art print, beautifully captured on museum-grade paper. Experiencing culture shock as a newly arrived immigrant to the United States, the artist created a series of four paintings inspired by some of the women he saw along a segment of Coral Way—one of Miami’s most posh streets known for its upscale shopping and dining.

Filled with sharp social satire and dark humor, the painting shows a reclining nude woman whose face features only big lips and hair, completely omitting her eyes and nose. She rests on an old, worn wooden sofa with a broken leg held up by a couple of bricks while smoking a cigarette. One of her legs still wears a stocking halfway down, while the other stocking lies forgotten on the floor in front of the couch.

This dramatic contrast introduces a gritty, raw immigrant reality that plays against the wealthy reputation of the neighborhood. Like a caricature of a specific slice of life, this piece aims to leave room for the viewer to find their own meaning within the scene’s complex layers of identity and displacement.  To commission a custom oil painting or narrative portrait, contact the studio directly.
